Clothes Show Live - 6th December

Hello! Yes i went to clothes show live at the NEC in Birmingham, and yes it was amazing. If you've never been i would definitely recommend going along one year. Myself and one of my university friends went on Saturday and watched the 10am fashion show, it was just incredible.

I took some photos - mainly videos of the fashion show, however i thought i would share some of the photos.
This was the runway - just before the show started
Follow my instagram - jessicamilburn
There were so many brands there - Bootea, Coco White, Hair Burst, NYX, Rimmle, Fusey, inthestyle
Myself, Chloe Lewis (Towie), and my friend
On all of the entrances and exits there were little quotes and mirrors surrounded by lights, this allowed everyone to check on their outfits an make-up through the day, it worked really well

British Fashion Awards

I wanted to share my thoughts on a few celebrities outfits for the British Fashion Awards from last night!! there were so many amazing outfits, I have chosen my favourite 3 too show.

Tanya Burr
I really love Tanya's ( YouTube star) outfit choice. I think she looks so chic but a darker more vampy style. The outfit she choice really suits her body shape and pinches her in at the waist. The mesh/see-through skirt just adds that little bit off edge to the outfit, drawing it all together with a dark berry/purple lip.

Cheryl
Cheryl also went for the mesh look completing it with a bra-let  and thigh high boots, and she completely killed this look. I don't believe anyone else could of pulled this off as good as she has. The attention to detail on the dress is amazing and the simple make-up makes the outfit look so elegant and classy.

Model - Rosie Huntington
Last but definitely not least. Rosie Huntington, wow. This is what I would think off for a red carpet event, especially  the fashion awards. Its classic, classy and incredibly elegant , the low cut front add a bit of glam and style. I love this. Again, with a nude lip and a bronzed up face, it pulled this look together.

Summer Afternon Tea

There is something about afternoon tea. Something that is cute and special, it's one of those cute things you and your girlfriends can do as a little treat for completing your last uni assignment, or a great way to celebrate your birthday - which is why I went. Even though my birthday was in May (we are now in July), I was going through all my photo pictures and discover this, and it make me super peckish! It would anyone let's all be honest now...

I know need to 'justify' a reason to go and remake this memory, however for now I will just let you all look at this wonderful platter of the yummiest cakes

Favourite Summer Scent

One of my most favourite things about summer is the summer scents. I'm sure many girls (and guys) have those favourite fragrances that really bring back those summer day memories - i definitely do!

This year my two summer faves are these - Just Pink / Next and  Si / Giorgio Armani.

They both have a very fresh/sweet smell which lasts on me all day (a total bonus!!)

'Just Pink' is a body spray, which you can buy in any of your local high street store Next. I find this great for an every day 'I'm just popping out, but want to smell like a sweet candy cane/ classy woman' - if you get my drift!

Si is the perfect perfume for anyone who loves luxurious perfumes, and super cute as a birthday present! I have never smelt anything so yummy in my life, its a very sweet, glamours perfume. It lasts all night on me and I forever get asked what i am wearing when I wear this. If you are super girly and like sweet classy perfumes, this is deffo one to try!

Thank-you for reading, let me know if you have tried any of these!

Monday - Update

Happy Monday Morning!!

Hope you have all had a wonderful weekend and are ready for this upcoming week.

I remember when i was at school, Monday was defiantly the worst day of the week especially as early mornings are not my thing, on Mondays they just felt that little bit worse! I am currently trying to get 3 essays done as fast as possible, yes ones that i should have already done over my Easter break.. Oops. On the bright side of things I have come back to University a whole 2 WEEKS EARLY, to give myself more time and hopefully motivate myself to do my revision for exams.

Over the summer I am really going to try and make my blog into something I am proud off, I really haven't found the time or the effort to keep up with this. But this summer it will all change, I probably said this last year but hay ho!! I want to make it a weekly thing, or even twice a week if im feeling super motivated this summer.

I haven't actually got any plans for this summer as of yet, cry cry. hopefully a holiday will fit in ust nicely after my exams!

Anyway little update done, Thanks for stopping by!

It's April

Happy April guys!

Spring is finally here, and April showers have definitely come with it too!!! If you also live in England, and lucky enough to live in the country side, you will be aware of the gale force winds we have been experiencing these last few days, at some points I thought my house was going to be blown down (okay, little over exaggerating but totally felt like it!!!!!)

I am currently enjoying a month off of uni, with 3 essays to write and revision for my first year exams, stresssssed!!!

If anyone has any exam tips I would highly appropriate them as I haven't sat an exam for a good 3 years now, scary!!!

Enjoy your April

How gorgeous are these shoes from Topshop!?

These are the newer version of there older pair ( if you have been into a local topshop recently you'll see what I mean). I think these shoes are such a staple in your wardrobe, they can be the feature of a really plain outfit, and will look great during the summer!

Fashion - 'I'm late to uni look'

Evening guys,

Sometimes I find it so hard to choose what to wear to University or to do a little bit of shopping.. So I thought I would start to put together some different outfit ideas for inspiration. Im sure many of you will feel my pain of choosing an outfit!

Everything here is from Topshop (except the hang bag - Asos)

Layering is key in this English weather, ever so unpredictable! This outfit will look great for a 'i'm really late to uni look' or a casual shopping day out with your friends. Its a classic outfit which you can throw together quicker, which looked like you spent time planning.. that's a win win in my eyes!!

Fashion - Grey

Tonight I thought I thought I would write a super quick fashion blog - this Cowl Neck jumper is a Primark number, It was only £12!!! I honestly think it is the best buy I have done from primark, it washes lovely, the colour is still the same, it still feels super soft. Most importantly it doesn't itch my skin either! That's a bonus..

I brought it a size up, just because i wanted it to be a little more baggy. I have been pairing this jumper with black skinny jeans and over the knee boots. Also with leggins and converse.

New skin care routine

Hello beauties

For Christmas I received a lovely No7 Skin care collection. It is a collection of their must-have skin care essentials, the gift set includes a Hot cloth cleanser with a muslin cloth, the protect & perfect Night cream, the Protect & perfect Day cream and the Beautiful skin eye make-up remover. Also it came with a ultra-soft headband to keep your hair out of your face while you are doing your skin care routine.

I have never really had a skin care routine that was structured. I would put moisturiser on and do the odd face-wash but that was all, so I think these No7 products are honestly perfect for anyone's first skin care routine.

If anyone is like me and has really sensitive skin, I do find it very difficult to find products that my skin wont react too. Luckily I haven't had any problems with these products and I have been using them for a good 3 weeks now!

All of these products used together leave my skin feeling feeling soft and pumped. I haven'y had any breakouts and my skin has felt a lot more hydrated.

If you have any other No7 products that you really like please let me know in the comments!

Thanks for reading

Glamour Beauty Box - Power List Edition

Hello everyone!

A couple of weeks ago, i received this beautiful little box of beauty goodies from Glamour. These beauty products are from the 2014 beauty power list!! The total worth of this box is a whopping £83.47, however you actually get everything for £15.99 which i think is a brilliant deal.

When i received this there was nothing wrong with the packaging so it survives delivery which is a plus for a start! The packaging is a perfect size to keep other products in when you have taken everything out. I really liked the bright pink with the black writing, i think it really makes the box look classic.

Content inside the box:
I was so happy with everything inside, with 7 high quality products from various different brands. I think this is a great idea because it gives you the opportunity to try new products.

Liz Earle: Cleanse & polish hot cloth cleaner
When i saw this was in the box i was so excited to try it out. I had always wanted to try it our but never got round to buying the product. The first time i used it, it was a really weird sensation, rubbing the lotion onto a dry, full face of make-up. However it is so gentle on the skin and really breaks down your make-up.

Maybelline: Nude colour sensational lipstick
Its all about the nude lip at the moment, thanks to Kylie Jenner! She rocks the nude lip like no other. This lipstick is creamy and really easy to apply, lasts throughout the day and doesn't try out my lips which is a winner for me. Maybelline do 5 flesh-tone shades in their collection.

James Reed: Sleep Mask Tan
Firstly, i had never heard of James Reed before so it was really cool to try a product that i haven't eve heard of before. I haven't yet mastered the whole 'Fake-Tan with no streaks' yet however i am getting better. Never have i ever put fake-tan on my face though! I was scared to test the sleep mask but i did and i smelts great, gave you a 'summer glow' and wasn't streaky at all!

 Bourjois: Volume 1 second mascara
Receiving a mascara was like a gods gift, i had currently ran out of mascara and needed to purchase a new one anyway! Honestly, i probably wouldn't have even given Bourjois a thought to buy a mascara before i tried this one. It makes your lashes look fuller and longer straight away, i have quite tiny eyes, and my eyes look so much brighter and open when i use this. I have used it everyday since and still loving it!

Laura Mercier: Foundation Primer
This primer is something i have already done a whole blog post on, however i still wanted to include it. I personally think everyone needs with in the make-up collection, its formula is a creamy gel, that doesn't feel greasy on the skin after, it leaves it feeling soft and smooth. This product will leave you feel picture ready all day long.

I hope you have enjoyed my little reviews on these products. Defiantly go and check out these boxes. they would make a great Birthday or Christmas gift for someone, or treat yourself! Im sure you wont regret it at all. Thank-you for reading.

My Current Favourite Product

Hey,

I have never been too bothered about using a primer, i have only started using one for about a year! Firstly i brought the Maybelline Baby Skin - instant pore eraser. i really enjoyed using this product, it done the job it says it does which is a plus. It is very light on the skin and does make my foundation go on nicer. Although i had an allergic reaction to this, and i kept breaking out every time i used this product - sucks i know!!

More recently i decided to try a high-end primer, I chose the Laura Mercier Foundation Primer. Now this is a wonderful product! and best of all, it doesn't give me a massive breakout every time i use it! So i would definitely recommend this primer if you have sensitive skin, like me! This primer keeps my makeup in place all day, it makes my skin feel really smooth and my foundation goes on so smooth and effortless.

I hope this little review will help some of you!

10 Tips on starting University

Hello!

I am not sure if i have already mentioned that i have recently started my first year of University, very exciting!! I thought some people may benefit from hearing a few tips i have put together to make your first few weeks at University be as least stressful as possible... i hope they help! :)

  1. Don't over pack. Believe me when i say this, i packed as if i was never going home again, i brought all my clothes with me... including summer clothes, when its currently the season of winter. Big mistake!
  2. Buy a printer before you arrive, with lots of ink! It didn't even cross my mind that i would need a printer, however if you are studying an Arts subject in-particular, you have an enormous amount of reading that you will need to print off. Yes i know, every University will have printing facility, but it will make your lives so much easier and save you a lot of time, and money in the long run!
  3. Heels are a big NO... I wish someone had told me this before i packed every pair of heels i owned. During freshers, you are advised not to wear heels, and that flats are the way forward. When i heard this i was like 'noooo, i always go out in heels, i will be fine'. I've not worn any heels since i have been here, which is 3 months. No-one wears heels, purely because it is very uncomfortable and walking back to your accommodation would be, lets just say, interesting.
  4. Always have cash on you. For some odd reason, at the university when i am, nowhere around takes cards, meaning takeaway shops, they all demand cash
  5. Never feels forced to drink.
  6. 9ams are evil
  7. Buy as many A4 note pads as you can before you go.. you'll use them up before you know it
  8. Try something that is out of your comfort-zone
  9. freshers goes realllllly fast
  10. Make sure your flat hosts as least one flat party.

Enjoy!

My Halloween Make-up

Hello everyone!!

I hope you all enjoyed Halloween as much as i did. This year i decided to go as 'The Black Swan'. I had found many different pictures and styles and tutorials of this look, however i decided to just do my own take on this look and this is what i have created. I hope this can help some of you that are struggling for ideas for next year, or for a fancy dress party you may have planned ahead.

As you can see from above. I have put my hair into a slick doughnut bun, using one of the buns you can buy from any supermarkets or beauty stores. To achieve the same hair all you will need is ...

  • 1 hair Doughnut
  • 1 hair band
  • bobby pins for any fly away
  • hair spray

For my makeup i didn't want to have a pale face like she did in the film, so i have just done my normal base/foundation routine, with a slightly more defined contour. For the eye makeup, I used...
  • A black liquid eyeliner, to make a guide around my eyes of where i wanted the two points on my nose to sit.
  • I used 'Blackout' out of the Naked 2 Palette as my base on the lid, with this shade i went right up to my eyebrows and towards the side of my eyes. I built up the colour and intensity until i was happy with it
  • To achieve the 'feathery' look, i found an coal black eye-liner from 'Frontcover' that had a small sponge/smudging tool on the end of it. So i applied the eye-liner from the ends of my eyebrows to the start of my hairline, then with the sponge end i just flicked it away from my face
  • I also added some silver glitter to the inner corners of my eyes, to make it look brighter and to  make the look a bit more glamours. There is also some glitter blended in with the flicks around my eyes, just to make it a bit different
  • This look would have looked better with some big eyelashes, unfortunately i wasn't able to find some in time, so i just applied mascara

It is not very clean, but on my lips i have lined with with just a normal black coal eye-liner, colouring in my lips in the corners as well with the black eye-liner, as i wanted to create an ombre style look. So for the rest of lips, i used a matte red/berry lipstick from Rimmel.

(EXCUSE THE MESSY ROOM)
For my outfit, i just wore a simple black velvet dress from Boohoo, paired with some chunky heeled boots from River Island.... And of-course some fake blood, it is Halloween.

Thank You for reading this, i hope it has inspired some of you too also recreate this look.

Make-up Haul!

Hello everyone,

I recently took a little venture to Superdrug. Ooops. This is what i got....

This is a lip-gloss from the 'Tanya Burr' cosmetic range that she released early this year. I chose the Lip-gloss called 'First Date', and its gorgeous. A baby pink with shimmer, perfect. It stays on for a good length of time, and its not sticky! and best of all.. it smells of strawberries and cream!

I honestly think, every girl needs this nail polish. Firstly, its called 'Mind The Gap, Victoria'... you can get much more British than that! Secondly, it is soooooo pigmented, and so bold! personally, bolder the better! And thirdly, it brings any plain outfit alive, you could be wearing the most dullest/colourless outfit and your nails with this colour on, your outfit just got made!

I'm gonna say it, i am a mascara whore. I currently have 5 on the go.. oops. But wow! This mascara does wonders, for someone who has naturally medium/long eye lashes.. with this, i get long/extra long eye lashes. The applicator is so smooth and soft, with a little bit of flexibility. It doesn't hurt to take off, and most defiantly doesn't crease around your eyes.

Lastly, i thought i'd try a new foundation. I have never tried the Loreal Paris True Match Foundation before. Its good, really good, i got the shade ' R2.C2 Rose Vanilla'. Ooo its gorgeous, it glides on and blends into your skin really effortlessly, giving a flawless finish, but with medium coverage. However it is very buildable too. It lasts on my skin all day, and the coverage is basically the same at the end of the day. I have really enjoyed using this product and i will most defiantly be re-purchasing it.

I hope you have enjoyed reading my short Make-Up haul.

Until next time, Thank-you for reading.
