10 Tips on starting University

Hello!

I am not sure if i have already mentioned that i have recently started my first year of University, very exciting!! I thought some people may benefit from hearing a few tips i have put together to make your first few weeks at University be as least stressful as possible... i hope they help! :)

  1. Don't over pack. Believe me when i say this, i packed as if i was never going home again, i brought all my clothes with me... including summer clothes, when its currently the season of winter. Big mistake!
  2. Buy a printer before you arrive, with lots of ink! It didn't even cross my mind that i would need a printer, however if you are studying an Arts subject in-particular, you have an enormous amount of reading that you will need to print off. Yes i know, every University will have printing facility, but it will make your lives so much easier and save you a lot of time, and money in the long run!
  3. Heels are a big NO... I wish someone had told me this before i packed every pair of heels i owned. During freshers, you are advised not to wear heels, and that flats are the way forward. When i heard this i was like 'noooo, i always go out in heels, i will be fine'. I've not worn any heels since i have been here, which is 3 months. No-one wears heels, purely because it is very uncomfortable and walking back to your accommodation would be, lets just say, interesting.
  4. Always have cash on you. For some odd reason, at the university when i am, nowhere around takes cards, meaning takeaway shops, they all demand cash
  5. Never feels forced to drink.
  6. 9ams are evil
  7. Buy as many A4 note pads as you can before you go.. you'll use them up before you know it
  8. Try something that is out of your comfort-zone
  9. freshers goes realllllly fast
  10. Make sure your flat hosts as least one flat party.

Enjoy!

My Halloween Make-up

Hello everyone!!

I hope you all enjoyed Halloween as much as i did. This year i decided to go as 'The Black Swan'. I had found many different pictures and styles and tutorials of this look, however i decided to just do my own take on this look and this is what i have created. I hope this can help some of you that are struggling for ideas for next year, or for a fancy dress party you may have planned ahead.

As you can see from above. I have put my hair into a slick doughnut bun, using one of the buns you can buy from any supermarkets or beauty stores. To achieve the same hair all you will need is ...

  • 1 hair Doughnut
  • 1 hair band
  • bobby pins for any fly away
  • hair spray

For my makeup i didn't want to have a pale face like she did in the film, so i have just done my normal base/foundation routine, with a slightly more defined contour. For the eye makeup, I used...
  • A black liquid eyeliner, to make a guide around my eyes of where i wanted the two points on my nose to sit.
  • I used 'Blackout' out of the Naked 2 Palette as my base on the lid, with this shade i went right up to my eyebrows and towards the side of my eyes. I built up the colour and intensity until i was happy with it
  • To achieve the 'feathery' look, i found an coal black eye-liner from 'Frontcover' that had a small sponge/smudging tool on the end of it. So i applied the eye-liner from the ends of my eyebrows to the start of my hairline, then with the sponge end i just flicked it away from my face
  • I also added some silver glitter to the inner corners of my eyes, to make it look brighter and to  make the look a bit more glamours. There is also some glitter blended in with the flicks around my eyes, just to make it a bit different
  • This look would have looked better with some big eyelashes, unfortunately i wasn't able to find some in time, so i just applied mascara

It is not very clean, but on my lips i have lined with with just a normal black coal eye-liner, colouring in my lips in the corners as well with the black eye-liner, as i wanted to create an ombre style look. So for the rest of lips, i used a matte red/berry lipstick from Rimmel.

(EXCUSE THE MESSY ROOM)
For my outfit, i just wore a simple black velvet dress from Boohoo, paired with some chunky heeled boots from River Island.... And of-course some fake blood, it is Halloween.

Thank You for reading this, i hope it has inspired some of you too also recreate this look.
